Immersion
My work explores ways to visually represent the sensation of being fully immersed or absorbed - whether that is in music, in the sea, or in a flow state. To bring the creative act closer to the inspiration, I make work outside the studio as much as possible, especially at live performances and in the landscape. The resulting drawings and paintings are abstract, with marks and colours informed by my surroundings.
Recent immersive painting excursions have been to coastal locations across the UK and France, as well as at performances by dance musician Mr Bruce, folk singer Sam Lee, performance poet Gommie, musician HUX, and immersive music and video artists Palindrome.
