The Jam Factory show
Each time you put your work into a new space, it changes slightly.
In June I hung ten paintings in a plain gallery setting: no distraction, just the viewer and the paintings.
But these paintings were made for a place with people in it. I painted them during lockdown when I couldn't get to the studio, so they came into being at home, surrounded by the glorious mess of my life.
So when the same ten paintings arrived at the Jam Factory gallery for installation, they immediately looked right at home. It's a living, working space, full of activity. They've already witnessed wedding celebrations, a jazz night, all sorts of parties, chit-chat and celebration (and some characterful canines too).
