OVADA show
The OVADA gallery is an amazing warehouse space in central Oxford - it’s a total joy to show work there. And this exhibition was particularly gratifying.
We had been feeling down on our luck: two cohorts of the Oxford Brookes MFA had had their graduation shows waylaid by the pandemic. When you have worked hard on artworks, it’s a downer when no one can see them.
But then we found our lucky break: the OVADA gallery had a window for a pop-up show. For ten days my ‘Ways with Silk’ pieces swayed and flipped in the breeze of the warehouse space. Over 300 people came to the show - and there’s nothing quite like seeing someone peer into the work you’ve made, circle it, consider it, become absorbed by it. It’s the biggest thrill, and it makes all the hard work worthwhile.
