Workplace workshop
My favourite workshops are the ones where the people taking part don’t have much drawing experience, but come prepared with open hearts and minds.
This was the case with Elliptic - a blockchain analytics company, who help their clients navigate financial crime risk management and regulatory compliance. Maybe not where you’d first think to look for free-wheeling creative expression? But this was a session for the senior leadership team to take a step back from the day to day, reflect, and gain a fresh perspective.
The workshop was created through a set of drawing games, designed to pose creative conundrums that participants would not have encountered before. My goals? To set in train a process of discovery through a playful and non-judgemental approach; encouraging people who don’t usually draw to enjoy the process, without fixating on the outcome. And seeing what happens when you look at things from an unexpected angle.
What I loved was seeing what each person came up with. Distinctive and creative drawings which responded to the unfamiliar tasks I was setting in all sorts of different ways. Different people responded to different challenges, and hearing the positive feedback afterwards was hugely gratifying. Thank you for having me, Elliptic!
